Hearts Of Iron Vs Europa Universalis
EU4 is good fun. Sure, it's very complex, but you dont need to understand how everything works and how to min/max it to play the game. Just play as Portugal and try to make as much money as you can, or have the best army possible as Brandenburg/Prussia, etc.As people above have send, EU4 is a blend of historical simulator and RPG. It doesn't succeed 100% at either, but it does do the combine stuff very well. They've also got rid of.a lot. of the micro that plagued previous games, you can pretty much concentrate on just the high level stuff if you want to.I've had a lot of fun with it on 400+ hours.
However, I don't think I'll return to it soon. It fundamentally doesn't have much replay-ability unless you play each game as a different country with hugely difference strengths. There are probably only about a dozen or so really worth doing. Click to expand.Nope, it's the same. I admit I'm downplaying some of the complexity but at the end of the day it seems to be grind grind core core.
Europa Universalis. Discussion in 'Civ6 - General Discussions' started. MrDoubleG said: ↑ I was wondering how Civ VI might compare to Europa Universalis? Civ V seemed to be far from the EU complexity, so do we expect Civ VI to close that gap at least a bit? I like Paradox but I saw Marborzir fire up a game of Hearts of Iron. Hearts of Iron 4 Beginner Guide Tutorial Part 1: What You Need to Know to Start Playing HOI 4 - Duration: 31:14. Praetorian HiJynx 664,610 views. This system is the Hearts of Iron IV answer to the central design dilemma in most grand strategy games: the delicate balance between a desire for historical realism and a desire for player choice. In all of Paradox Interactive’s mainline grand strategy titles, this balancing act is present.
There is trade and tech but never a win condition unless you make one up for yourself.I like Paradox but I saw Marborzir fire up a game of Hearts of Iron 4 and he said he'd play as Poland. I figured he'd set some date to hold out to and if he hit the target he'd declare he won. I watched the first couple episodes well after he was almost done with the series. I jumped to the end and POLAND was mopping up the last of Canada and the USA.
What killed EU for me was realizing that in all the time it took to learn how to play it I could be learning an actually useful skill, and it would be about as much fun. It may be true that you can ignore a lot of what the game throws at you, but the game does a very poor job of communicating what things are important.Civ is a very complex game (even Civ V, at least for people who don't think its a bowling simulator). But it's also an organized one that controls what it shows to you when.
EU meanwhile just throws everything at you with no buffer. Not only that, but it doesn't provide clear examples of what it is you're supposed to be doing. I only figured out by watching gameplay videos that most of the time the answer is 'nothing.' The tutorial doesn't even make clear what normal gameplay should be like. A comparison would be if you loaded up an RPG and you start in an inn and have some idea there's a city to explore, but creating your character involves finding a particular button buried in a sub-menu that you need to right click and then cross reference with 4 or 5 other windows.
And none of the various displays really explain what they are or whether they are remotely important.

Hearts Of Iron Oder Europa Universalis
Or an exact copy but only a WWII theme? Will I enjoy this game if I enjoy EU IV?Sorry if it seems like a lot of questions, but I would be really keen to buy this game if it also has that EU IV/grand strategy feel to it.Thanks in advance guys!!
Eu4 is way more enjoyable and this is coming from a guy whos favorite part of history is ww1 and ww2. Heroes of might and magic 5 change skills. Well BlackSmoke, yeah this title pushes the boundaries of grand strategy a bit.But what makes a grand strategy a grand strategy is still there.Taking control off all aspects of an entity (country/dynasty etc) and having to think of the long term viability of your strategy are the core concepts, at least for me.In the end such classifications are just a shorthand and are debatable (just like music genres). The smart thing about HoI4 is that it can be played more like a traditional rts which makes it a lot easier to play mp, but you don't have to.
And while i personaly don't like BICE 1.0 it shows how much you can obsess about the little things. The point of my prior comment wasn't so much the comparison between the titles but the negativity in this thread. And i stand by, that if you like EUIV the chances are good you will enjoy HoI4.That said, learning one of those games takes time and i wouldn't suggest trying to learn both at the same time. Some people are too ignorant to realize this and immediately call HOI4 a unfinished game with many bugs. And in fact HoI4 it's full of bugs, inbalances, etc. Also note that a game can be launched with certain degree of bugs, more or less. Paradox have lots of experience in this title and could do it much better. And please avoid the use of word 'ignorant' or similar negative words that could lead to confrontations. In example I tend to react extremely bad to people using stupid words like that. Originally posted by UltimateNobody:Sup guys!!I would just like to know, is this game the same as EU IV, or similar? It's not just a different theme. Someone said HOI4 is easier, I think they are both on the same level of difficulty to learn. But it greatly helps if you already know how to play one paradox game.EU4 focused more on the nation with economy and religion with a simplified miitary interface, HOi4 is all about the military and national ideology.
Hoi 4 Vs Eu 4
Trade in EU4 was an abstraction to earn money, trade in this game is to barter with resources and factories (actual uses). Both games have no real objective (just pick a country and decide what you want or don't want to do) but it's understood that you want to conquer land or defeat certain nations. Originally posted by:Wow, you really attracted all the freaking haters with your thread for some reason. What's a forum without complaining and arguments anyway? I gave an honest answer and yes I do hate a lot of the game. The reason for that is that I also love it and want to love it more. Like a half bad relationship. The love is actually stronger.
But only strong enough for me to give her another chance to improve. Not enough for me to recommend anyone else dating her to go through the same pain. Not enough for me to feel happy in the relationship.Hopefully with enough therapy (patches, mods and DLC) we will be happy ever after.
